A Walk In Killarney National Park Upon Arriving

I was thinking about a walk beginning at the Ross Castle Lodge B&B, going to Ross Castle, then to Torc Waterfall, then to Muckross Estate, and then on into Killarney town. Am I being overly ambitious for one afternoon (and a jet-lagged one at that)?

Hi Phil

Thanks for getting in touch. I love the fact that you are keen to get straight out into Killarney National Park on your first afternoon.

To be honest with you I cannot blame you. It is beautiful!

My first thoughts are that you would be taking on way too much. I have a good level of fitness but would feel a little out of my depth taking all that on in one afternoon.

I would probably leave Ross Castle for another day (perhaps see it before taking a boat trip over to the Gap of Dunloe) and take a taxi up to Muckross House and walk any of the loop walks that catch you eye. You could always aim for Torc Waterfall if you have the time and energy - check with someone on the ground whether you have time or not. Then take a taxi back to Killarney (10 mins max.)
